How do I talk to someone before joining?

Either reach out to us via chat (bottom-right corner), leave a message on the contact page, email studio@radio.co, or schedule a virtual meeting by booking a demo to get a quick tour of the platform.

How quickly can I launch my radio station?

A few minutes for the bare essentials, but setup times vary. Unpacking everything takes longer, like uploading media, creating playlists, and scheduling shows. If stumped, our help centre has useful tips to get your station up and running.

Do I need special equipment to start?

No special gear is needed. You can run your station straight from your browser and go live with just a regular mic (even a laptop mic will do the job) and some free playout software.

Can I run a radio station without a website?

Yes, your station can be broadcast and shared using direct stream links, embeddable players, or mobile apps, removing the need for a dedicated website. But creating a home for your station is straightforward nowadays with our site builder.

Do you offer a free trial?

Yes, we offer a 7-day free trial for new users on any plan. Some features are limited to paid plans only, like mobile apps. But trials can be cut short to unlock features. Higher plans, like Plus and Premium, offer more. Change your plan anytime in your billing area to suit your needs.

How do I cancel my plan?

You're free to cancel your radio station and any extra services whenever you like via your billing area. Services will stay active until your current billing period ends, then your station will automatically switch off. We'll hold onto your station's data for 60 days, so if you decide to come back within that time, you can just reactivate and carry on right where you left off.

Are discounts available?

Yes. We’re committed to supporting those who make a positive impact on their communities by offering exclusive discounts to eligible non-profit organisations, registered charities, and accredited educational institutions. Contact studio@radio.co with proof of eligibility, like a 501(c)(3) letter for US-based non-profit organisations, so the team to verify your status.

What are add-ons?

Add-ons are optional features to round out your broadcasting package, like mobile apps, smart speaker skills, or website builder tools. Some add-ons are included in higher-tier plans, but can be added separately for plans without them in the marketplace.

Can I upgrade or downgrade my plan?

Yes, you can change your plan whenever you like in your account’s billing area. If you're upgrading, then you'll be charged a prorated amount instantly and your service will be moved onto the new plan. So getting more storage, bandwidth, and features can be done at the drop of a hat. On the flip side, if you're downgrading, then your service will remain on the current plan until the end of this billing period. You'll then be moved to the lower plan and charged the lower amount.

Which payment methods do you accept?

Credit/debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex), PayPal, and Google Pay are all accepted. Currently, we support: USD ($), GBP (£), or EUR (€) - if paying in a different currency, then your local exchange rate will apply.

Can I change the email address linked to my account?

Yes, but we’ll need to verify you’re really who you say you are for security purposes. To get the ball rolling, contact help@radio.co with the station name, current owner's email, new owner's email, last 4 digits of the account’s payment method, and the latest invoice payment date and amount. The support team may need to run additional checks, but it’ll allow them to action your request sooner.

Is there a limit to how many users I can add?

Each plan has a set maximum number of user seats available. Switch plans in your billing area to invite more people to manage shows and match your station’s growth.

My radio station has been suspended. What can I do?

Suspensions happen either if a payment fails or an account is cancelled. For the former, reactivate by logging in and updating your billing info. A payment transaction will then be attempted. If all good, your station will be unsuspended. If not, and you’re struggling to pay, please reach out to help@radio.co.

I forgot my password. How do I reset it?

On login, select ‘forgot password’. After submitting your account’s email, you’ll receive an automated system email with a secure reset link. If nothing comes through, then reach out to our support team at help@radio.co.

Can I run multiple radio stations?

Yes, you can manage multiple stations from a single account. Each station needs its own plan, but you can easily switch between them, making it simple to oversee all your stations or client stations in one place. For those with several clients, the enterprise plan might be more suitable. The bespoke plan offers essential perks like custom features and dedicated account management - contact studio@radio.co to get the ball rolling.

How do I monitor live broadcast performance?

In your real-time statistics area. Location, connection time, duration, and other useful listener insights are on display to keep you informed on how well your shows are doing, there and then.

Is my stream secure?

Yes, streams can be restricted for extra security. Managing listeners is straightforward by choosing which countries can tune in or blocking the ones that might fall outside your licensing coverage. On a basic level, you can also kick or permanently ban individual listeners you feel aren’t genuine, such as stream rippers.

What happens if a listener has a slow connection?

Choppy audio. But there’s a fix. Enable a secondary, lower-bitrate stream to support mobile or low-bandwidth listeners in your broadcast settings. The mobile bitrate can be adjusted between 16-64kbps. Web players also have an option for adaptive streaming to automatically adjust the bitrate based on your listener’s connection - for example, if a listener tunes in on a 5G connection, they’ll get bumped up to a higher bitrate for better audio quality.

What file formats are supported?

Uploaded media should be in MP3 or M4A (AAC). MP3 files are recommended to be encoded in a constant bitrate (CBR) and a sample rate at 44.1 kHz for smooth playout. Live broadcasts are similar, with MP3 or M4A (AAC) supported up to 320kbps (depending on your plan).

Can I broadcast live?

Yes, using playout software. Tools like BUTT push out your local system’s audio (like a laptop) to your online radio station, then finally out to your listeners. Playout software is configurable, so no two systems are the same. Choose a setup that’s right for you from our help centre.

How do I reschedule shows?

Either create a new event or drag and drop the existing event in your scheduler. Events, like live DJ shows, have the option to repeat. Ideal to structure your week out with a recurring lineup listeners expect when tuning back in.

Can I schedule external streams?

Yes, but only with the owner’s permission. Relays are ideal if you’ve got several streams, affiliated shows, or syndicated spots. Setup and schedule relays for either one-off special broadcasts or repeated syndicated partnerships.

How do I record and insert voice tracks?

Either using recording software locally on your computer, then uploading to your station or using the voice tracker. For the latter, you can pre-record speech segments and drop them into playlists to create seamless talk-and-music shows, just like you’d expect.

How do playlists work?

Much like you’d expect, in descending order from top to bottom. Playlists can be curated to replicate a live show with tracks, segue recordings, and station branding idents and jingles. To avoid repetition, media can be randomised using tags. Basically, it’s a way to group your tracks by genre, artist, or year so your shows feel fresh.

Can I automate my radio station’s schedule?

Yes, by using your calendar-based scheduler. Manage playlists, presenters, and relayed shows from one centralised place. Others invited to your station can also manage events on your behalf, making the day-to-day more streamlined and on-the-fly tweaks smoother.

How can listeners request songs?

Using an embedded request widget from your website or mobile app. Listeners can search your library of tracks and request tracks. Behind the scenes, manage requests to streamline the process with automation and stop abuse with limits.

Can I share my radio station in directories?

Yes, but each directory submission process is different. For context, radio directories are marketplaces to discover and tune into stations - ideal if you’re boosting visibility. Some need basic info, whereas others will follow strict guidelines for legal reasons and need official licensing details. But all directories require your stream URL to play your station, found in your listen links.

Do you offer mobile apps?

Yes, for iOS and Android. Both mobile apps are bundled together so you can stay connected with listeners on their own devices. Apps are available either as an add-on or part of the high-tier plans, like Plus and Premium.

How can listeners tune into my radio station?

A few ways, like mobile apps and web players. Listeners browsing your site can quickly tune into shows using a custom player branded to your station. And for those on the move, apps puts your station in listeners' pockets wherever they go.

How do I add my radio station to my website?

By using code embeds. If you’re not familiar, embeds are chunks of code you copy and paste under the hood of your website. Embeds can do a few things, like players allow listeners to tune in to your station, and the schedule keeps listeners updated with what’s coming up.

Do I need a website for my radio station?

No, you can share your station via players and direct stream URLs. But just like mobile apps, a website is a destination for listeners to discover, tune in, and interact with your station. So it’s one to consider the further you get into your radio journey.

How do I customise the web player?

The web player is customisable to match your station’s look and feel. Change colours, adjust playout behaviour, shape the design to slot into your website, and create multiple players to fit different places.

Can I share my shows with Mixcloud?

Yes, with the Mixcloud integration. Publish recorded shows to your connected Mixcloud account, tagging hosts for better visibility. Live shows can also be pushed out via Mixcloud's video streaming.

Can I publish my shows as podcasts?

Yes, by using the Podcast.co integration. Recorded shows can also be downloaded and uploaded to your alternative podcast hosting platform.

Do you provide music?

No, but we recommend a few places where to find music. Marketplaces for music vary, ranging from popular commercial hits to a bank of royalty-free libraries.

What if I only want to talk, not play music?

That's fine. You can run talk-only shows for live broadcasts or upload prerecorded shows. Just like other spoken-only content, such as podcasts, you shouldn’t need a license due to no infringement on copyrighted bodies of work.

Can I play copyrighted music?

Yes, but you're responsible for ensuring you have the appropriate licences. Requirements vary by country, and what license you need depends on what and where you broadcast. Advice on music, licensing, and royalties is available, but we always recommend consulting with qualified professionals or the relevant authorities for your country.

I need answers quickly - can you help?

Search for answers in our help centre. Find detailed breakdowns, step-by-step walkthroughs, and video tutorials ranging from the basics to professional tools. If you still can’t find the answer, please get in touch.

Can I speak to someone directly?

Yes, by either requesting a call (existing customer) or booking a demo (new customer). The team will reach out to iron out any details, then confirm a day and time to talk over the phone or through video chat. But in some cases, questions or issues are best dealt with over email to save time or fix problems quickly.

How can I reach the support team?

Either through chat (the bubble in the bottom-right corner) or emailing help@radio.co. Both open up dialogue with the team. Wait times vary, but we usually respond within 24 hours or less, and cover both weekday and weekend hours (9am - 5pm, UK timezone).
